I do think that there are many things that have changed in the story. In the beginning chapters it mostly focused on Ashima’s hardships in America. She talks about India and how she misses it there. Even when Gogol was born the story still mainly focuses on Ashimas emotions for a while. In the beginning of the story there is more comparisons of Indian and American culture compared to chapters later in the story.
As the story continues and Gogol gets older as the days past the story shifts to Gogol. It talks more about Gogol than Ashima in the story. It shows that the Gogol’s personality changes as he ages. In the recent chapter It told the reader that Gogol was 14 who was now a teenager. He visits the Taj Mahal during his trip to India and he had many thought of the Taj Mahal and enjoyed it a lot. One other day his family left him alone for a family trip to Connecticut. He decided to invited his friend and went to a college party that his father worked in. He used his fake name Nikhil and he felt like he was a different person. There he had his first kiss with a girl in the party
The story has changed a lot even though it was just five chapters. The family has adjusted to America and made some friends even some immigrants that are Bengali. They have new daughter to the family and in chapter 5 Gogol is already going to college. I am interested to see what will happen in the next chapters and if it will mostly focus on Gogol, the family or even the sister Sonia. The story is already improving and I hope that it will get even better.
