The book “Shooting An Elephant” was about the author George Orwell who became a police officer in Burma for the British. The problem is that he hated his job because he worked for them just like the natives did. He couldn’t leave to find another job because he thought he was uneducated and it would be hard for him to find a good job. One day there was an elephant wandering around and even killing people so he had to be the one who killed it. This book gave plenty of notes that explains him trying to kill the elephant and what it did to some people.
I think “Shooting an Elephant” was a book that was understandable and enjoyable. I was able to understand the book because they gave the historical outline and the setting of the book. I enjoyed the book because the author gave so many good description and used a lot of helpful metaphors and similes that made me understand in detail of how the author was feeling. I also liked how he used his past experience to come up with this book because it makes it more realistic.
